Drawer Organizers: A Game-Changer for Baby Clothes
One of the first things I learned was how quickly baby clothes can turn into a chaotic mess if they’re not properly organized. Drawer organizers have been a lifesaver! They’re perfect for separating tops, bottoms, jammies, and even organizing by size. This way, I always know exactly where to find what I need without rummaging through piles of tiny onesies.
Cubby Holders with Baskets: Multi-Purpose Storage
Cubby holders with baskets are a fantastic addition to any nursery, especially when you’re working with limited space. In our nursery, I use the cubbies to store:
- Baby wraps and carriers
- The next size up in clothing
- A dedicated basket for clothes he’s outgrown
Having a designated place for outgrown clothes means I can quickly toss items in the basket without cluttering his dresser. When the basket is full, it’s time to pack those clothes away or pass them on to another family.
Over-the-Door Storage: Hidden Gems of Extra Space
Over-the-door shelves are a small-space hero! These provide extra storage without taking up any floor or wall space. I keep essentials like extra wipes, grooming items, and little extras (like a thermometer, nail clippers, and baby medicine) in the compartments. It’s also a great spot to store seasonal items, like hats and mittens in the winter or sunscreen in the summer.
For added organization, consider labeling each pocket or shelf so you’ll always know where everything is. This is especially helpful during those middle-of-the-night emergencies when you need something quickly.
Diaper Caddy on the Dresser: Convenience is Key
Having a diaper caddy on the dresser has been one of the best decisions we made. It keeps everything you need for diaper changes within arm’s reach, which is crucial when you’re dealing with a squirmy baby. Our diaper caddy holds:
- Diapers
- Wipes
- Diaper cream
- Lotion
- A small toy to keep him distracted during changes (we love attaching these toys to our mirror for baby to play with!)
The key to making a diaper caddy work is restocking it regularly. I like to refill it once a week so it’s always ready!
Under-Crib Storage: Hidden Space Savior
If your crib has space underneath, don’t let it go to waste! Under-crib storage bins are perfect for stashing extra diapers, bedding, or out-of-season baby clothes. Look for storage bins with wheels or handles to make accessing items easier.
For a more aesthetic look, choose fabric bins that match your nursery’s color scheme. You can also label them to keep track of what’s inside without having to open each one.
Wall Shelves: Stylish and Functional
Adding shelves to the walls is a great way to store books, toys, or decorative items without using up valuable floor space. Floating shelves work particularly well in small nurseries because they have a sleek, minimal look.
Use baskets or bins on the shelves to corral smaller items, and don’t forget to leave some room for cute decor pieces that add personality to the space.
Organizing a nursery in a small space doesn’t have to be overwhelming. With the right tools and strategies, you can create a functional and cozy space for your baby. From drawer organizers to over-the-door storage, each solution helps maximize your space while keeping everything you need within easy reach.
